Os diversos e escusos interesses políticos e econômicos têm se imposto às obrigações constitucionais do Estado brasileiro para com as sociedades indígenas, configurando situações que favorecem diretamente seu extermínio. Com a invasão garimpeira, a malária se espalhou, o meio-ambiente se envenenou de mercúrio e muitos Yanomami morreram e continuam a morrer.
