Em São Félix do Araguaia, índios Karajá, antes considerados grandes preservadores da natureza, estão vendendo centenas de tartarugas. De acordo com a Associação Brasileira para Conservação das Tartarugas, só em 1993 os índios teriam capturado cerca de 2.800.
