O presidente da Funai, Cel. Nobre da Veiga afirmou que nenhuma das 250 reservas indígenas estão regularizadas e que portanto, a questão de terras é a mais problemática para os indígenas. O coronel também considerou o artigo 198 da Constituição Federal como "violentíssimo, duro e implacável".
