O Amazonas já elegeu cinco indígenas para a Câmara de Vereadores de três de seus municípios. O número ainda pode chegar a nove, segundo previsões indígenas. Entre os eleitos estão índios Ticuna, Desana, Baniwa e Sateré Mawé.
