Pesquisa feita entre os índios txikãos (Ikpeng) no Xingu identificou trinta homens e 24 mulheres diagnosticados com gengivite, periodontite e cáries simples, em níveis semelhantes aos que se observam em países como os Estados Unidos e a Escandinávia, por exemplo.
